Under the BNSS framework, courts are empowered to encourage settlement between parties in appropriate cases, especially where the offence is compoundable in nature or arises out of private disputes such as commercial transactions, matrimonial issues, or financial dealings. A scheme of compromise may be presented before the court, outlining the mutually agreed terms between the parties, including payment of dues, withdrawal of allegations, restructuring of liabilities, or any other lawful conditions of settlement.
